What is large group health insurance coverage?

Large Group health insurance coverage is a policy purchased by an employer with 100 or more employees and offered to eligible employees (and often to employees' family members) as a benefit of working for that company. A group health insurance plan is a key component of many employee benefits packages that employers provide for employees. (Source: National Association of Health Underwriters)

Will you be in compliance with health care reform?

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) was signed into law March 23, 2010, and impacts all insurance policies sold in America.  Some provisions of health care reform began after the law’s passage, and other provisions are still being phased in.

Frequently Asked Questions

If one of my employees is eligible for a subsidy in the exchange (Covered California) because of his income, should he enroll there instead of stay in my group medical plan?

Unfortunately, the provisions of PPACA stipulate that an employee covered by group insurance is ineligible to receive a subsidy in a state exchange (Covered CA) if he is offered “affordable coverage” which meets “minimum value.” If an employee pays more than 9.5% of his W-2 income towards the employee portion of employer-sponsored coverage and/or that coverage fails to meetminimum value, he/she may be eligible for a subsidy in the exchange.
